World Mental Health Day – Shining a spotlight on Mind Over Cancer
Today might be World Mental Health Day but we believe every day we should be talking about and looking after our mental health as it’s just as important as our physical health.
As a business, we wanted to shine a spotlight on an incredible mental health charity called Mind Over Cancer that is very close to our hearts, and we support.
Did you know every day across the UK around 18 children, teenagers, and young adults aged 0 to 29 are diagnosed with cancer? Fear, sadness, worry, stress, anxiety, hope, and recovery are just some of the feelings and thoughts patients and their families have to face.
There’s minimal NHS mental health support offered during and after treatment so Mind Over Cancer steps in and gives those who received a diagnosis as a baby, child, teenager or young adult, access to free counselling sessions and a mental health and wellbeing support programme. Uniquely, support is also extended to patients’ family, friends, and partners as all can be negatively affected by a cancer diagnosis.
Due to limited funds, the charity can currently only support those living in East Anglia but their ambition is to become nationwide. To donate or for more information visit www.mindovercancer.org.uk
