How we are telling their story

The challenge
After working in the industry for 25 years, interior designer Jennifer Anderson Haysom wanted to create a first-of-its-kind exclusive creative group for the finest UK architects, designers, craftspeople, and artisans to join but how could we support Jennifer’s vision to lauch House of Cybele?

The solution

  • Source a venue for the launch and subsequent venues for quarterly events and become main liaison with various venues events teams
  • Identify two charity partners that align with House of Cybele’s vision and objectives. We sourced United in Design and Heritage Crafts
  • Research potential businesses to invite to events to ensure we were reaching the right audience
  • Create a social media content plan
  • Write website copy for houseofcybele.co.uk
  • Draft presentations slides for all events and source and brief speakers
  • Source a videographer and photographer and create briefs for them to follow
  • Write ticketing website copy and attendees emails
  • Create a biography of Jennifer to help secure future media interviews and speaker opportunities
  • Produce newsworthy press releases such as using research which shows 62 specialist crafts are at risk of dying out without industry support

    The results
  • The launch event was a sell out and subsequent five events have followed suit. Watch this film to see House of Cybele’s first birthday event
  • To date, 22 pieces of media coverage have been secured, reaching a total potential audience reach of over 4 million and all receiving 100% positive journalist sentiment. Highlights include: South East Business magazine, Interior Designer magazine, FX Magazine, The Argus newspaper, Sussex Express newspaper, Brighton Journal, Sussex World, More Radio and The Guild of Master Craftsmen magazine

How we told their story

The challenge
A small but mighty charity called Mind Over Cancer had reached the milestone of operating for five years, but to grow and attract more fundraising support, it needed to shout louder. We helped them celebrate their achievements, educate key stakeholders about what they do, build new connections and create a call to action.

The solution
We created a PR strategy called Five Years & Beyond that centred around the number five. Organising a celebration event was an opportunity to invite existing and new supporters, such as corporates, high net worth individuals, grant-giving Trusts & Foundations, charities, the media and people who have benefited from the charity’s support. It was also a way to celebrate the charity’s achievements from the past five years and reveal the strategy for the next five and create a unique fundraiser.

We organised a 5 Arts Auction, featuring 5 one-off art pieces from 5 different artists, which was curated by the charity’s patron, artist Remi Rough. Art is often used as a form of therapy and five years is also a pivotal moment in cancer treatment, which patients strive for receiving the five-year all-clear outcome, so it felt serendipitous to use these two links. Our PR support included:

  • Drafting and designing materials such as business cards, about us leaflet, banner stand, auction brochure, invitation and presentation slides
  • Event management from liaising with the venue, to booking suppliers, creating a running order, invite list and managing the budget
  • Copywriting such as creating speeches and briefs for all those involved
  • Media liaison and press release creation
  • Creating social media content
  • Photography and videography commissioning. Watch this film to see behind the scenes

The results

  • The charity raised £5,750, which will go towards expanding its free mental health support to those diagnosed with cancer from birth up to 29
  • Created valuable new connections with potential supporters and collaborators
  • Increased engagement on their social media channels and number of followers
  • Secured 4 pieces of quality media coverage, achieving 100% positive sentiment and reaching a potential audience reach of over 100,000

Testimonials

“Working with Sarah has been a really positive experience. From the outset, she took time to understand our business, our audience, and what we are trying to achieve through our PR and content. Her approach has been both strategic and collaborative, helping us to shape a clear narrative while also making the process feel straight forward and manageable. Our PR and content has felt much more aligned with everything else across Crawley Innovation Centre’s marketing channels and it has made attribution and lead generation much more effective. I would highly recommend Sarah to anyone looking for support with content and PR. She is a wonderful person!”
